About Light of Letters
Who We Are
We are a youth-led nonprofit turning digital waste into digital hope. Light of Letters began with a simple belief — no child should feel left out of learning or life just because they don’t have a phone. While many kids struggle without access, countless devices sit unused in drawers and warehouses.

We decided to change that. -
Through Light of Letters, we bridge this gap by collecting unused phones, carefully refurbishing them, and placing them in the hands of children who need them most. Every device we share opens new opportunities for learning, connection, and growth.
Our Promise
We’re committed to giving old phones new life, lowering carbon emissions, and closing the opportunity gap for kids without smartphones. Whether you’re an individual donating one phone or an enterprise donating 10,000, we make the process easy and secure, and share proof of the impact you’re making on people and the planet with every donation.

How We Help You Turn Digital Waste Into Digital Impact
01
Clear Your Data
Before you donate, we’ll guide you through how to wipe your phone data, whether you’re an individual with one device or an IT team managing thousands. It’s quick, secure, and we’re here to help every step of the way.*
02
Send Us Your Phone
We make donating easy and free. Once your phone is ready,we’ll cover the cost of shipping. Individuals can use our prepaid mailers, and enterprises can schedule bulk pickups at their convenience.
03
Refurbish or Recycle
Our device experts assess every device. If the phone still works, we clean, reset, and package it for its next owner. If it can’t be reused, we recycle it responsibly through certified partners, keeping it out of landfills and creating the lowest carbon footprint possible.
04
Distribute To Those Who Need It
We match refurbished phones with youth-serving nonprofits or distribute directly to under-resourced young people who apply through our website and meet our criteria. Every phone goes to someone who truly needs it, and we deliver it with dignity and care.
05
See the Impact
Every donation ends with a story. We’ll send you a donation receipt (if your phone was reused), an ESG report (if it was recycled), and a summary showing where your device went and how it’s making a difference.
The Successful Result
Every donated smartphone becomes more than a device—it becomes a bridge to education, independence, and inclusion for children with visual impairment. Together, we’re shaping brighter futures.
